what to expect

Before our initial session it is useful to chat over the phone or via email, to get a sense of your concerns and to answer any questions you might have. I see people via Skype, Zoom or phone due to social distancing requirements.

In order for therapy to be effective it is important that there is a good fit between you and your therapist. I usually suggest an assessment session before we commit to and contract around a therapy process, after which time I am better able to make recommendations for therapy and you have an idea of what the process will entail.

Sessions run for 50 minutes and are typically scheduled at the same time each week though this is not fixed; flexibility is key.

Telephone/Skype/zoom therapy

All psychological therapies that I provide in person can be delivered by phone or Video.

What can you expect if you receive telephone/Skype/Zoom therapy?

  • You would receive sessions with me over the phone or video call at a frequency agreed between us.

  • The type of therapeutic approach used will depend on the nature of your difficulties based on an initial assessment and what you want to get out of therapy.

  • If I make the clinical judgement that telephone or video therapy isn’t appropriate due to the nature of your presenting difficulties or any other complicating factors then I will communicate this to you as part of my assessment.
